FES Delivers First 40MW STOR Project
FES Energy is delighted to announce the completion of our first two STOR (Short Term Operating Reserve) projects delivering 40MW of capacity to the electricity grid.
The sites at Cefn Mawr (near Wrexham) and Hinksford (near Wolverhampton) comprise of 10 x 2MW CAT/Finning Gas Generators supplying 20MW @ 33kV each to the local electricity networks.
FES Energy was responsible for delivering a full design and build EPC turnkey contract on each of the sites including civil works, acoustic fencing, 33kV switchgear, distribution transformers, mechanical pipework, fire and security, communication systems, CCTV and all HV, LV & communication cabling and containments.
Both projects were delivered on time and on budget, just in time for the triad season – between November and February.
Charlie Easton (FES Support Services Director) stated that “This is the first two of seven projects with the client Oxford Capital and working closely with the clients appointed project managers, STAG Energy, is a major leap forward for our Energy business”.
FES Energy have also secured an Operate and Maintain contract for these sites, bringing our full STOR portfolio to 90MW. This figure includes our existing three STOR Diesel sites. It is anticipated that this figure will rise by a further 100MW by the end of 2019.
