RAF Lossiemouth
FES is delighted to announce that, in a contract with Robertson Construction, the Poseidon Strategic Facility at Royal Air Force (RAF) Lossiemouth was successfully handed over to the procurement arm of the Ministry of Defence. The £100M, 33,000sqm facility will host Boeing’s P-8A Poseidon planes. The project provides hanger space, cutting edge and extensive support facility, maintenance provisions and training areas, all housed in excess of 400 office and subdivided individual spaces.
FES made extensive use of our Stirling digital engineering and prefabrication facility to help reduce project run-time, with multiple modules being designed and manufactured in Stirling then rapidly fitted on-site, allowing speedy progression through the build phases and reducing site numbers and risk.
FES building services installations, centred around a full BIM level 2 delivery model, included: LTHW, chilled water, domestic water, natural Gas, compressed air system ventilation plant, air conditioning, crac units, boilers, CHP plant, standby generators, HV switch gear, fire detection systems, gas extinguishing system, security CCTV, door-access system, extensive electrical switchgear, runway lighting and external lighting.
